I would say it would depend on which one speaks most to your heart. I know you've spent a lot of time on the one which is "almost ready to publish", but if the new novel is that exciting, maybe that's the one you should focus on now. Just a thought.
I'd try to finish the one first, but, having said that, I'm often working on two books at the same time. I set aside some weeks for one, some weeks for the other. It would be nice to have the luxury of one project at a time, but I seldom do. They're both worthy projects.
Well, hearing your state of mind/body I may reconsider and take one project at a time. Maybe talk into a tape recorder about #3 (on your drive to or from work?) so as not to lose your enthusiasm and wrap up #1.
Thank you all for your concerns and feedback. Last month was a tough one for me--it was the 14th anniversary of the cult suicide (which will be followed in 4 weeks by the 14th anniversary of my brothers death)--and things at work are just tediously difficult and politically treacherous, coupled with some financial issues, dental issues , etc I guess I went on overload.
And, I love the children's book (Pink Place/Blue Blaze) and I want it to do well-for me and for CASA-- but it is by far, more difficult to work on for publication, due to the formatting and drawings. it's very intense.
SO, I feel drained on lots of fronts. I know others are having difficulty too, and sometimes its tough to ask for listening time when the topics are unpleasant.
It will get better---I need spring to arrive, and a few things to pass.
