The shoes that were worn by Heavens Gate cult mass suicide participants have been redone by Nike--now the colors are black, purple and white--in my opinion, this is MORE refective of the cult, in that the shoe style is the same and now includes purple, which was significant to the cult ---they were covered in purple shrouds.
It will be interesting to see how the shoes sell, and I cant help but wonder why Nike is promoting this change--if they had simply put the shoes out for sale, most people woudl not have made the connection! Interesting marketing strategy. see link for the article
